Name of this project inspired by Florian Illies' book 1913: The Summer of the Century. I captured a story what I now recognize as the last summer before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In 2021, I traveled with Kyiv’s young punk band Blichaus80, documenting our tour through Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro — cities that are now under constant Russian attack.

Tour is usually mean to be a wild adventure — punk shows, parties and vodka-fueled nights. But under the surface, there was an unshakable sense of anxiety. The world around us felt unpredictable even before we fully understood why.

Shot on black and white film reflect that tension—a mixture of youthful chaos and the oncoming sense of something inevitable. Looking back, we were witnesses to the last summer of peace, even if we didn’t know it yet.
